The Bobbin Slow Fashion + Sustainable Design April Newsletter 2011    Springtime Greetings, C-C-C-C-c-c-c-h-ch-changes...   The Bobbin is Moving! April marks our last month in the Old North End storefront. My fabulous landlord, Champlain Housing Trust, has received a grant to remodel the building. I am sad to be leaving the 'hood, which has allowed my little local sewing studio to grow and evolve. However, I am super excited to renovate a green studio in the South End focused on sustainable design and slow fashion education. I will continue to teach students for private lessons during the May & June renovations. Look for EcoSew camps and group series classes coming in late summer/fall. I will no longer be operating a retail storefront. Bobbin products can be purchased online at Etsy or Artfire and locally at The Green Life on Main Street in Burlington and upcoming fairs such as the Queen City Craft Bazaar.  The April + May calendars are online.  Beginning students can practice their new sew skills learning to make dream pillows, SadBoy dolls, potholders, or legwarmers. Intermediate students can practice upcycling jeans or designing wrap-around Springtime skirts. Class sizes are limited to just 4 students. Register today! Sustainable Sewing: not just a hobby, it's a life skill! Project Runway Wants YOU!  It's that time of year again... Project Runway called!!! They are currently casting for their popular reality series. Aspiring fashion designers everywhere have only a little more than a week to get their applications together. Here in Burlington, Vermont the closest we get to NYC Fashion Week is SEABA's annual fashion show STRUT! The Bobbin is thrilled to announce a new community partnership w/the Green Mountain Derby Dames one of Vermont's own skater owned and operated roller derby teams. Gyllian will be designing and manufacturing the teams custom tank tops over the next month.
